(June 4, 2013)
The WGAW's Women Writers Committee is seeking submissions for its Fall “Women on the Scene" showcase, an evening of scene readings from completed, unproduced television pilots and screenplays. This year, the scenes will be cast, produced and directed by WGAW member Sharon Lennon.
To be considered, Guild members should submit the following:
- A four to six page (no more than six) stand-alone scene with a minimum of two, and maximum of four characters.
- If you are submitting a screenplay scene you may edit and consolidate several short consecutive scenes into a longer scene that adds up to six pages.
- You may submit two separate scenes for consideration if one is a Drama and the other is Comedy; scenes must be submitted as two separate entries.
The scenes will be judged on quality as well as castability. They do not have to feature a lead female character, however, the scene must be written by a female WGA member. In the case of teams, at least one person on the team should be a female WGAW member.
For more information on how to submit a scene call 323-782-4589 or email Diversity with “Women On the Scene” in the subject line. YOUR NAME SHOULD NOT APPEAR ANYWHERE ON THE SCRIPT, only in the body of the email. Scripts must be WGA registered.
Submission deadline: August 20th, 2013
(All WGA and Caucus members may apply)
