Gus Avila is a film and television writer whose work has garnered recognition from the Nicholl Fellowships, Sundance Institute, The Black List and other industry organizations. Most recently, his feature screenplay, The Lost Ones, was selected to participate at the 2015 Cannes Film Festival’s Maison des Scénaristes, the only U.S. entry participating in the workshop.
He has twice been selected as a screenwriting fellow with the National Association of Latino Independent Producers (NALIP) and is an alumnus of Film Independent’s Project:Involve, where he was mentored by award-winning producers Albert Berger and Ron Yerxa. Prior to embarking on a writing career, he spent several years as a development executive for Paramount Pictures, HBO Films and Starz/Encore.
Gus hails from East Los Angeles and is a graduate of UCLA where he earned a degree in English Literature.
