Tonya sold her first freelance story to the NBC show, Medium. Her staff credits include Justice for FOX, Hit The Floor for VH1, and Political Animals for USA. Political Animals received 30 award nominations, winning a Critics’ Choice TV Award for “Most Exciting New Series” and an Emmy for Ellen Burstyn. Tonya recently worked with Zoe Saldana’s production company Cinestar Pictures developing a pilot pitch about female lawyers.
As an attorney practicing law in California and Hawaii, Tonya has worked on some of the largest and most notable civil litigation matters of the past decade. She was a member of the legal team that helped the federal government take on Wall Street’s 17 biggest banks, recovering over $20 billion in settlements for U.S. taxpayers in residential mortgage-backed securities fraud litigation resulting from the home loan crisis. She’d be happy to regale you with a full recitation of her cases if you ply her with enough Malbec.
Tonya also cheers for her Washington Huskies (bothering her on Saturdays during football season is highly ill-advised), mothers her English Springer Spaniel, and volunteers for organizations that advance LGBTQ rights.
