"Living in the Middle" series with Jose and Javi: Pre-Production in the Middle

In the next three installments of "Living in the Middle", Javi (Javier Grillo-Marxuach) and Jose (Molina) tackle the role of the starting and mid-level writer in pre-production, production and post-production. In this first of three sessions, they will break down what happens in that critical time between finishing a script and when the cameras roll. What is the job of the episodic writer/producer during this crucial process? How do all the pieces come together, and how do all the problems get solved -- or don't -- before your script actually gets filmed?
