The American Film and television industry is what it is because of it's writers, as a film is only as good as it's script. Coming from South Africa and being exposed to international films and television what sets America a step above the rest is the quality of it's writers. What the writers produce is worth what they are asking for and more, and as a satisfied consumer of your film and television I support your strike. If the American Film industry doesn't appreciate your writing, sell to other film industries in the world; we could use some of your amazing writing abilities. Sincerely, Ameera Patel (South African Film Editor)
Just a quick note to wish you every success with your ongoing dispute. As a Chair of the Branch of a Trade Union within a Government Department in the UK, I am well aware of the way that lies and underhand tactics are used to undermine the public perception of your struggle. Stay strong and united and you will succeed. All the best to your members for the future. Scott Fielding
Dear Guild Members, Please know that many members of the public support your strike, even though it is extremely difficult for your union. Why isn't the Governator, a product of Hollywood, involved in encouraging mediation? He obviously has no idea how much this strike is costing California. Have you considered having striking writers follow him around? This tactic worked for nurses when nurses, teachers, and law enforcement opposed his insane budget cut proposal a few years ago. Of the three groups, the nurses were the most aggressive, and they embarrassed him at every opportunity. Perhaps something similar could work for your union. Please continue to let the public know what we can do to assist in your efforts. Thank you! Kathy Freeman
Just remember the right thing to do is not always the easiest. Though your absence is truly missed by the viewers, we support you! Hang in there. Natalie Pumphrey
I have just received the two tshirts that I ordered from Strike Swag, thanks a lot guys! I am a trade union representative to 450 members of the UNISON union here in Nottingham, UK. Without our branch agreeing, everything I say here is in a personal capacity. Today I have just been to a Trades Union Congress meeting (I don't know how things work with you, but the TUC is the unifying forum for all Unions in the UK), and the response to the "On Strike" shirt was brilliant. Despite being thousands of miles away, solidarity knows no borders or distances. May I wish you all the best in your actions, and my personal support. I regularly visit picket lines locally, but unfortunately you're not quite in my region :) I don't even mind the reruns and the crap shows at the moment - I think it says alot about the quality of your members, and to keep a strike going for so long takes alot of work. A win for one is a win for all! In solidarity Dave Kuivala
I wish to give my full unreserved support. While i like many others are disappointed that Television will suffer for the time being i know that in the long run that when, not if, your requests for fair deals are met that TV will return stronger with the industry in a much fairer balance to everyones satisfaction. Good luck with your action, you are in the right and more power too you. Yours Dan Gibson
Just to comment on the strike. I think it's a massive waste of time for the Networks! You guys will end up winning! You already have the upper hand! Networks are being forced to cut a lot of shows and are clearly losing! I think this whole strike is entirely mad! The Networks are losing - why don't they just give up? Probably because they're greedy, gluttonous, old men. It's clear. You guys WILL end up winning. They may as well give in now and save everyone time. I really can't see why they are so desperate not to pay you what you deserve! Hang in there. They'll give in eventually! Zach Woodham
Good luck with the strike action guys!! Withdrawal of labour is an necessary evil from time to time. Its entirely "stand up" when all else fails!! Solidarity!! -Andy Spark (UK)
No issue what-so-ever man. Your voices are the grease that keep this rutty tutty fresh and fruity steaming along. I write a bit myself and- Do not walk gently into that good night. RAGE RAGE GET WHAT THY HATH COMING. That being said; Take care your mothers worry. REALY TAKE CARE FELLAS AND LADIES, The longer you strike, the more they'll come to realize, they ain't *** without the brain! A.K.A. The air that keeps the heads in space
I just wanted to write and share my support for all of the striking writers. Your strength and solidarity is an inspiration for workers across the country. Stay strong and stand up for what is right. America is supporting you. -Maya
As a hopeful writer - though of books and short stories, scripts are just puzzling to me - I have to say I agree wholeheartedly with what you are trying to achieve with this strike. Though I find it annoying that I'm currently stuck in rerun hell with my favorite shows, I know that this is ultimately the fault of the conglomerates, not the writers. I knew television/film writers didn't make much from their work, but until this strike became a reality, I had no idea what the actual situation was really like. It's funny how the corporations seem to forget that without writers, there is no show, no story to tell. Here's hoping that this comes to an amicable solution sometime in the very near future (say... Monday? That work for everyone?) And that production resumes and puts everyone back to work. Nicki Voyles
I want to let you all know that I support you 100%. If I were in Los Angeles I would be on the picket line supporting you. I believe the studios will soon find out they are NOTHING without you!! Stay strong, stay positive. Best of Luck, Heather Stevens Albany, GA
Please see http://www.scabvertisers.com/, which is intended to put pressure on advertisers who support shows being broadcast despite picket lines. Please advise if I can help in any other way. Thanks. --- Art
I believe all of you do some very important and excellent work and well derserve the money you are asking for. I think they are being very selfish and money hungry to deny a portion of the profits to yall. Although i love television shows this is no sacrafice compared to what yall endure. i hope and wish yall all the best of luck and hope that they come to their senses and agree to be fair. ashleigh pulver
Hello Writers; I am a member of SAG, AEA and AFTRA. We are out here supporting you. Your courage is blazing the path for fellow union members whose fight is coming up. I personally am cheering you to a victorious resolution to your righteous cause. Don't forget The Actors Fund is there to help you if you are in need. Thank you for your sacrifice. Keep the path lit, Patricia Ben Peterson
Eventually we will write a screenplay about these events. Good Luck and God Speed! Grant R. Garson
I am very impressed that you guys are standing strong in the face of these powerful companies. I think you have made them realize that with out your words their bottom line will be hurt much more than giving you what you deserve. I hope the suits come to their senses and you guys get back to doing what you do best.
Great job, be proud! You are heros! Michael Gardner
Every time you meet to settle issues remined the opposition that when you resume the stakes will be higher. Define those demands and never revisit previous levels of compensation. Stick with this philosphy! Sooner or later you will accomplish your desired goal... Intellectual properties deserve reasonable compensation! NEVER GIVE UP SHORT OF YOUR GOAL! Love your work! warren Mitchell
Hi there, I'm a freelance writer in South Africa. Although far from you in distance, I'm close to you in spirit. Keep up the pressure regarding the strike: Hollywood has never respected writers, and it's about time they did. I believe it's not so much about fighting for percentage points - though that is important. I believe it's ultimately about RESPECT. Writers need to demand respect - the writer is king in theater, but not in film - and it's high time this changed. But at the same time it's about respecting OURSELVES, and improving our WORK. The buck actually stops with us, as it always did. So hang in there and win this battle. Cheers for now: Will Mason
I wish you well in your dispute with the studio execs and hope that you will get everything you have asked for and that your future will be protected by any deal. I have been in the Rail industry in the UK for 17 years and have been involved in many strikes in that time. As a current member of ASLEF (the drivers union) I offer my heartfelt support. Good luck and best wishes. Iain Aitken
I wish you well in your fight for a fair deal, my friends and i here in the UK know how much how much the script means to our enjoyment of the shows. Best wishes Terence
Who can we write to voice our support to get the writers back to work by yielding to their demands? Thank you. Karen Warren
I support you all one hundred percent!! i sure do miss seeing heroes, but i think it is worth it. trust me, heroes is a big deal to me so my support really means something. Kevin
Please come to an agreement soon and put us out of our misery for those of us that are still watching TV. Soon I will not be watching at all and from everyone I talked to, they stopped watching altogether. I would expect ratings to be down even if you return but one could hope. Linda Markiewicz
I detest strikes that affect more than the people in the unions and industries. I miss the new shows. Having said that, I support you 100% in your strike and I regret that the industry left you no other alternative. Good luck and hang in there, there's more at stake than just a little money. Jo Braden
Thank you all for all that you have done! The creative side of many things is often the most ignored, and it is wonderful to have people making themselves noticed and heard. I support you all completely, and I continually hope that you will soon get negotiations that will favor you. Best wishes to all of you, for the end of the strike and for future projects to come! Always, Alyssa Phillips
It sounds so sad that you have to go through that. I am in complete support of you all. WAY TO STICK TO YOUR GUNS. All support here! Rachel Baset
I am a film technician and member of I.A.T.S.E. Local 873 in Toronto. Between the WGA and the upcoming SAG strikes I am not expecting to work much in the coming year and will be forced to seek work in the "real" world for greatly reduced pay. It is going to be very difficult and I expect to lose my car and possibly my apartment. That said, I want the WGA to know that, whole-heartedly, I support your action. I know that many of you are facing a similar fate but you really have no choice other than to see this through. I just hope (somewhat in vain, I know) that the studios come to understand that soon. Good luck to you and to us all but, whatever you do, hold the line. Kevin Paul Brown
Studios and Networks please pay the writers what they are worth! Without the writers there is no entertainment industry and you don't have to be a rocket scientist to work that one out ! David Brown
I live in Italy, and also here in Europe your strike has a lot of supporters. Your requests are only fair, and you have to get your voices to be listened. You have created stories and characters that have inspired not only Americans, but people around the world, generating deep cultural changes, transforming our way of seeing ourselves and our place in the world, our perception of what is a life worth living, of what is possible, what is worth the effort. You make the lightness and the depth of the entertainment industry you have give them credibility, along with serious profits! They HAVE to take you MUCH more seriously. You have all my support. Franca Zadra.
I'm sure I'm among many Americans that would like to support you. Do you have a publicity campaign to galvanize a groundswell in your favor? A list of who/what to watch/not-to-watch might be helpful. Give me guidance! -John Q. Public AKA Todd Saint Pé
I completely support your strike. Your cause is just. It is really important to resist what the big media giants are doing. You are the media! Hang in there. Jerry Zeitz
All the best with your struggle, I hope you win your demands. You should be getting more money for DVDs and internet, it's only fair. In solidarity, a worker who watches tv. Joshua Wood
Dear WGA Writers, hold on, for what you are doing now to claim your rights represents to us all a true hope of freedom, and can be the start of something big all over the world. With your general strike, you are demonstrating that the big show-biz corporations can no longer exploit talents without consequences. No one can downplay what's going on now. We support your struggle to achieve fair agreements, and as much as possible, we will try to do the same here, in Italy, by creating a Guild to defend our rights. Good Luck and stay strong! I would like to help out anyway I can. If that means picking up a picket sign and stand out on the sidelines with you guys, then so be it! Joseph Carter
I would like to start by saying I am not now, nor have I ever been a "Union Man". However, I do believe that if people are making money off of your member's efforts, those members are entitled to a fair share. Regardless of if the media is traditional (movies, television, etc.) or not traditional (internet et. al.). I will all of your members well and hope for a just and fair end to the strike. Ross Rainville
As a flight attendant, and a member of the AFA, (and maybe one day a future member of the WGA), I want you to know what you are doing is so important. Not only for yourselves, and your families, but for future generations of writers. Don't cave, stick it to the corporate jag-offs! Your audience supports you. We miss you, but we understand. Keep up your spirits and keep smiling! As every good flight attendant can tell you- it only pisses them off more. Kelley Dougher
It is dissappointing on the producers end, that it had to come down to a strike. Anytime and everytime the studios or producers makes any profit from somthing that someone wrote, the writers should be paid a certian percentage of that profit. Thats the right thing to do. Jennifer Lovin
I have talked or email our Bosses at Operating Engineers Local # 3 Alameda Ca. & they said go for it. If you need any more in please go to www.oe3.org & click on the Valley Power link & that will give you all the info you will need. Again thank you for your support. We hope you will be able to settle your contract issues. Thank you once again! Kurt
Hello, i am chairman of the works council of "Freunde der Deutschen Kinemathek e.V." Berlin, Germany. We are organizing the "Internatinal Forum of New Cinema", which is part of the 58th Berlin International Film Festival "Berlinale" from February 7-17th. Let me first say that i and my workmates support your strike! I have the idea, that it would be nice if i and those of our staff who support you too could show this during the Berlin Film Festival by wearing your "We support WGA" Buttons. Do you see a possibility to send a bunch of these Buttons (and maybe some T-Shirts) to Berlin? If it's a question of money i would like to pay for them and the shipment. With best regards and best wishes for you to reach your goals Alexander Boldt Freunde d. dt. Kinemathek e.V. Potsdamer Str. 2 10785 Berlin Germany
I just wanted to let you all know that I am fully supporting the strike. I can't afford to send a bunch of pencils to the "suits" but I am supporting the strike in my own way. I am not purchasing any DVD's while the strike is happening (and believe me, with Season 3 of LOST being out as well as season 6 of Scrubs, it's been quite a challenge), nor am I watching any shows on the internet, and when I have to work on Monday and Thursday nights, and I have no Tivo, I wind up missing some of my favorite shows. I haven't seen a single episode of Heroes since the strike started, nor have I seen any episodes of Scrubs or Supernatural since the strike started. I mainly support the strike because I too would one day like to be a television and feature film writer, and if I felt that I was being treated unfairly, I would want as much support as I could get as I fight the system. I hope things go well for you all , and know that there's at least one person in the mid-west behind you. Jeffrey Lynn Niffen
I support the writers' strike. Writers deserve fair pay for all the quality programming and great stories they create. Their characters and story arcs provide inspiration and adoration in millions of fans worldwide. Without them it would not be possible. Communities are formed as a result of fans love of their work. They enrich our social, intellectual and emotional lives. Fair pay for writers is the only way to ensure their great work continues to benefit the lives of so many others. Chris Maxwell
First, let me say that I support writers and hope that negotiations will begin and be productive because you deserve to be paid fairly for your work, but I do have a question. How can there be new shows coming out when you are on strike? Example I was just on NBC website and they have Lipstick Jungle premiering soon. I do miss the new shows Life and Journeyman but I do feel that to keep lining the "big-wigs" pockets while you are not making enough to live is wrong. If there were not writers there would be no story to act out, so please hold on and hopefully the AMPTP will wake up and realize they are being greedy and unfair. Heidi Tidman
Greetings WGA, I understand and sympathize with you and your families. You contribute a great deal to world in the line of work you do and you deserve to be paid and treated fairly and justly. You will have the support of my family, friends, and me all the way. I hope that in the near future that the companies that have left you in this position come to see the light and let you go back to work on fair and solid grounds. I will post support for you guys on my website http://apollo.sifnotbaz.com Thanks for your time.
As a member of the Air line Pilots Association, with picket line experience, I would like to offer my strongest support for your groups valliant struggle. Other than a three day weekend in September, our nation fails to recognize that it was built on the backs of the unions and in the end, as the "giant sucking sound" of NAFTA and corporate greed bleed us dry, it will be the unions that offer any protection to the working man. On a more personal note, I just came across a picture of Chris Marcil picketing in LA. Chris and I are originally from the same area and were schoolmates. Please pass on my best to him. Good luck with the fight. Bernie Sise ALPA
How can I support you? I'm a person who lives in a rural California community. I miss you, all of you, with your amazing talents and contributions to the entertainment portion of everyone (& my) lives, specifically TV in the evenings. What the networks are putting on each night is crap. What can i do to support you? May all your efforts prosper and succeed and be rewarded professionally and personally. Judy Francis
Ladies and Gentlemen, The weeks without writers contributing to some of our favorite shows really demonstrate the value of true talent. My family and I have begun repeating the phrase, "boy you, they really need to get the writers back" when we're watching TV. We miss you, we support you. Kevin McCarty
I realized some time ago that the REAL TALENT behind any successful television show is the writers. The remarkable way that they capture our attention week after week is incredible. The idea that they are not compensated in kind is utterly ridiculous. I hope the writers will receive everything they are seeking and deserve. LaLania Crittenden
I just wanted to show my support for the Guild. I am a less then talented person when it comes to writing and creating so I fully appreciate those who can along with there fight to be recognized. It has been a long time since there has been any good notable tv show or movies and people needed to know that it all starts with you, Its not just the people in front of the camera. Thanks. Ashly Emerson
I totally support you guys! These ppl should pay what is rightfully yours. After all these shows are living because of you. Without you they don't exist. We, the public agree with all of this. Besides this is a nice break from tv. Hail to you writers, may your fight give you what you deserve. Sam Goulet
You're the soul of movies, tv shows, and so on. A good show/movie is it because of it's good story. Alright... I am really looking forward for some of my favorite shows to return, but I am sympathetic with you guys and I think you should keep on stricking for as long as it takes for you to get heard. Stick together. I admire you guys even more than I do the actors. Everybody can be an actor nowadays, but not everyone has the gift to write great stories like you guys! Stick for what you believe in! Ana Brochado
My Form 7 English students are in the process of learning how to write an original screenplay, and we want you to know that support you. Best wishes, Deborah Gittinger Form 7 English Saint Mary's Hall San Antonio, TX
We stand in solidarity with our Sisters & Brothers in the Writers Guild of America. Monterey Bay Central Labor Council
This is just a word of encouragement to those Men & Women on the strike line that are fighting for a good cause & not to be taken advantage of. Where I was working the guy's have been on the picket line for over 200 days. The company I worked for would not honor our Pension & H&W. I am a member of Operating Eng. Local Union #3. Based out of San Leandro, CA. The main Branch is City of Industry Ca. Keep up the good work Union members Regards Kurt
While I am so sad that my favorite shows are on, and frankly bored to death of the crap that is on TV right now, I support you! Oh, and to the studios....all the hype in the world doesn't make the B and C list shows that are on right now seem interesting. They are crap and we the consumers AREN'T STUPID. Jamie
Give the writers what they deserve Why is it so hard to give them what they deserve, the writers are the ones who make every movie and every show. These actors are making millions off the writer's ideas and words, the writers should make the big bucks. I watch so many different kinds of shows and every one are so great because of what the characters say because the writers wrote it. I can still watch repeats of shows that went off and I would watch them over and over because again the characters /writing words. I would think you are loosing millions by not having the writers to write the new episodes and movies so get a clue. I do watch the shows and movies because of the actors but I also watch because of the great lines the writers give the actors and make their characters who they are. MARJORY VROOMAN
I support the WGA strike. It must be hard to make a choice like this, but wanna-be writers like me appreciate your sacrifice. You have my support! Carolyn Bahm
I am a high school English teacher who also teaches film and television courses. My classes have been following the strike since it started, and I was wondering if it would be possible to get a couple of the signs used on the picket lines to hang up in my classrooms. Our school newspaper is doing a story about the writer's strike as well and if they come to take pictures in my room, I would love to have the signs up in the background. I have downloaded the files from the website as well, but I am hoping for something a bit bigger that will stand out. Please let me know if this is a possibilty. I am willing to pay postage and costs if needed as well. Thanks and continue to fight the good fight. -Chris Thomas
I think what y'all are doing is right. I think it is ridiculous that y'all do not get the recognition you deserve...without you-there would BE now revenue for THEM! apparently, they can't write their own stuff... All I know is...I'm so freaking ready to see a new episode of the Office, 24, even a new Scrubs would be GREAT! Keep up the good work. Know y'all are amazing and I'm so ready for this thing to be over. I understand why you are doing this and I support you all the way...if that means anything :) Jamie Walker
I am a senior at Ohio State University. I am an aspiring writer and would like to express my strong support for the writers strike. I believe the writers are the foundation of entertainment and deserve a fair deal from these corporations. The greed of these companies is sickening. They need to realize how important the writers are and propose a deal that is fair. I have wanted to be a writer since I was a kid. The creativity the writers provide for our entertainment is essential and has been by inspiration. I hope the writers receive the deal they deserve. Louis C Bitsko Jr.
As much as I want my favorite tv shows back on the air with new episodes, I fully and completely understand why the Writer's Guild of America and it's members are on strike. AMPTP needs to get back to the basics and remember that our most loved shows would not be possible without the writers...you make us laugh, cry and keep us coming back every week. AMPTP please negotiate fairly with the WGA. Jessica Weber
I support the WGA, the deal they propose is fair. The "new media" is not that new and is making the producers a bloody fortune! T Malone
Dear strikers: I am a non-writer from Portugal but i am a very addicted reader. I just wanted to say to you i fully support your strike and i think you are absolutely right on doing so. You are doing a wonderful thing: giving hope to others that are in similar situations. Keep united! Maria Joana Gomes
I just wanted to say that I continue to support the WGA and hope that you will obtain a fair and just contract. The only reason I like TV is because of well-written shows. Good luck! Jennifer Sung
Hi! Just wanted to say that I as an aspiring writer in school, support your strike. I'm trying to get the local business I work for to join as well. Samantha Garrison
We own an art gallery in San Francisco, a block from the Disney store on Union Square which was picketed for a weekend last month by local writers. I tried to get a sign to put in our business but they were gone before I could get one. I see I can download them here online. We'd be happy to offer a discount to writers but, of course, art is a luxury even at a discount to someone without a job. Best we can do is offer a glass of wine if you are in the neighborhood. Good luck! Margaret Bertels Mark Wladika Newmark Gallery San Francisco 251 Post Street
Has anyone organized a national "Don't Download Day" or similar? I for one haven't downloaded or watched a TV show or Movie online since you've gone on strike, but I think that putting a virtual stop to it for a 24 hour period could be a blow to the Producers Guild... That might wake them up. Sincerely, Daniel D.
To All of the talented (and very much missed!) writers: While I may not be working in your particular arena, I AM a writer and I'm sending this little missive in support of your cause. I LOATHE the idea of more stupid reality shows (the only one I watch is Dancing w/the Stars...can't help myself!) During this strike, I've simply watched less TV, turning it on only for football (thank God that's still running!) The good news is that I'm more productive. The bad news is I miss my 'faves' like Grey's Anatomy and Numbers. But turning off the TV is a small gesture, considering what you're asking for. For my own selfish reasons, I hope this strike is resolved soon. But ya'll hang in there! Here's one little amateur who's standing strong in your corner. Best blessings to you all~ Camille Strate
CBS, NBC and ABC no longer have the best-written shows. They will die and whither on their own regardless of the conclusion of this strike. The independents both on TV and online already know that the future is not in front of a traditional prime time viewing audience. Please, Please, Please do not give in to these guys. They will die but you will remain. Remember if they are canned what do they have, a stick up their butt and an MBA. You will always be writers whether they exist or not and there will always be actors that want to perform your work. I would sooner see the big three gone than to have good shows cancelled and bad, cheap shows continued. William Howell
I fully support your strike and I wish the best to all of you. I am a loyal Unionist and I am not sure which shows I should be watching because I do not know who you consider to be strikebreakers. I know we can watch Letterman, but I don't think you feel the same about Leno and O'Brien. And what about the guys on cable like Stewart and Colbert? I want to honor your strike but the media is not making it clear to the public who the scabs are. We need Info! In solidarity Vicki Sommer-Gaines
We (my boyfriend and I ) miss the show terribly. We can't wait till it returns. Good luck! We hope you come to an agreement soon. Randi Lesser
I fully support you battle! vince singh
I do miss some of the shows that don't have new episodes. But I think it's far more important that you writers get a fair deal. Without the writers, the shows don't exist! I'm sure the ideas are still bursting, but all of you have a right to be compensated for your hard work. Please keep going. I'm an amateur writer, but I know what I'd want in your position. You definitely have the support of this woman. Be well, many blessings, and GOOD LUCK! Lindsey Ann Denson
Hello there writers guild members and supporters, I write this message to express my deepest wishes for successful negotiations in your favor. As the corporate machine strengthens itself through deals and mergers, so must the workers, and the consumers. You are right to stand up in this situation. It would be cowardly and utterly destructive to your profession and industry for you to remain mere peons to be made billions off of without proper compensation. I support you and I wish you nothing less than your rightful compensation. Kanny Amour
My name is Jennifer Cluck and I am a massage therapist working in san diego. i am interested in organizing a pilgrimage of massage therapists to travel to los angeles and do moblie chair massage for the picketing writers. my former career was as an eng editor for kabc and i was locked out of work during the nabet lockout years ago. i feel your pain. please contact me to set up a day for us to come up there. peace, jennifer
hello, Without writers' talent and ability to write, there would be no story to produce a movie. I believe writers deserve to get what they want. Jeni
I'd like to do something to support the writers. I was never a fan of reality shows, and I don't plan to start watching them now. I have signed up for the National Action - but it says there are no current actions. Please let me know what I can do to help. Sincerely, Marjeta
I have to tell you that I am behind this strike 100%. Anyone who is not does not appreciate the hard work you do. Having been in theater in junior high thru college, I understand that without you the shows we see would not be possible. My oldest son recently ask me why were keep seeing the same re-runs. I explained to him and he understands and supports you also (he is 13 years old). Stand strong, don't give in. (My grandfather was union for carpenter's local in Houston, Tx and my step grandfather was one of the men who lobbied in Washington DC for the pipefitters local also in Houston. WE STAND WITH THE UNION!) Katherine D. Culton
You guys are doing the right thing by standing up until the contract is renewed for a fair value. "Keep on Keepin' on" -Joe Dirt
I commend what you are doing. While I do miss my shows, I would not agree to the contract unless it benefits what you wish. Hopefully, they will give you want you want because without you (as they will be realizing) they'd have no shows or revenues. I actually appreciate the time I have freed up since not watching some of the shows. There are only a few I will go back to, but I appreciate the free time. Thanks and GOOD LUCK!!! Brandy Hoxie
As a journalist who is new to the newswriting trade, I want you to know I support you completely. Yes, I have given up some of my favorite shows, but it takes a large group to make some of the wonderful entertainment out there and you are all such an important part of that. I respectively offer you all of my support and hope that you can come to a deal that you all find fair and appropriate. Good luck to you all. Chandra Niklewski
Hi to you all enduring this hard time. I'm a Swedish director and really want to give you all my support. I've been close to signing a contract in the U.S but like you all the terms were just unacceptable. I wish i could be there out picketing, but i hope my small words give you some more hope knowing that people, directors, writers, producers etc. all over the world have their eyes focused on you. Best Wishes Fredrik Lofberg
As a former Off-Broadway actor, I have a long history of association with both writers and performers. I am wholeheartedly in support of your cause. I'm currently semi-retired, so no, I don't have any money for you, but I have lots of kind words and I'm always with you in spirit. Ok, if you really need a latte on the picket line, I'll get it for you. I think about you folks every day. If you have any ideas for guerrila campaigns for us sympathizers out here in America, let us know! Donald Weed
My son Collin and I are novelists. I've published 14 novels and collaborated with Collin on the recently-completed 15th. As writers, we want you to know that we're behind you 150%. You deserve everything you're fighting for. Write on! Norma Beishir
I hear all kinds of opinions about the strike, how it's going, what this development could mean, and more opinions than I know how to make a pie with. Here's what I have to say to the WGA and its striking members: THANK YOU!!! YOU KNOW HOW AND WHEN TO BE RELENTLESS. THANK YOU!!! CHEERS!!! WHISTLES!!! Here's why: This strike is the best thing that could have happened for me as an aspiring screenwriter. I haven't rented a DVD in two months. I haven't had cable TV since I moved to a new place in September, and I swore I wouldn't get it until the strike ends. So I haven't been watching any TV, I canceled my Blockbuster Online subscription, I'm also not going to the movie theaters. So what I have I been doing? WRITING!!! Reading scripts, polishing my first script, and finishing my third screenplay. Chatting with other aspiring screenwriters at the American Zoetrope Virtual Studio about movies, life, the universe, and everything. We're all chomping at the bit, looking forward to sending out these polished scripts the minute the strike ends. AS LONG AS IT TAKES. Hold on for that % of internet shows of your material (and ours in the future). I believe that the quality of scripts that will come out of these months of writers thinking about, talking about, and having more time to focus on, our art and craft, as an artistic family, will be remarkable. I hope so. Carma Gagne
If you work, you ought to get paid. If your work, once completed, earns more money for your boss, you ought to get paid more. If you work, and the circumstances of your work change, so should your income. Solidarity! From a retired public school teacher and a union activist. M Burton Hopkins Jr
I just want to say that I absolutely support what your organization is doing with the strike. I had no idea that residuals were not being paid for internet and other "new media" content. I figured it was pure common sense that writers and actors would be paid for ANY type of distribution and am saddened to hear that these multi-national corporations aren't giving WGA members and others a fair deal. I used to purchase TV shows and others online, but now that I realize that my dollars aren't going to anyone besides the corporations, I have ceased to buy any TV shows or other distributions online. I will continue to voice my disdain for these companies as well as support a boycott of them for "as long as it takes." It is my understanding that roughly 20 years ago, a good faith deal was made with studios and companies with writers concerning DVDs. Taking an 80% paycut on residuals let alone any other job would seriously imperil any working professional. I believe it is the DUTY of these corporations to make good on their part of the deal to raise those residuals back to not only the levels of 20 years ago, but also adjust those numbers for inflation and other natural adjustments. I say to all of you, GOOD FOR YOU, and I hope that the AMPTP will soon recognize the might of the writer's guild and actors that have aligned themselves with it. Without all of you, we as the public would not have any of the entertainment and enjoyment we used to find on television and in theater. The public has got your back, stick with it for as long as it takes! Drew Jaynes
The world now is a global village and even here in Brazil I believe we can do something to show our support. Writers are simply the most important partners in any kind of motion picture or tv programme. The WGA proposal is just fair and nothing else. Candice Soldatelli
You are doing the right thing by fighting the PTB on these issues. Right is rarely easy. Wish I were a gazillionaire (or even a hundred thousandaire) so I could send money to help all of you through this battle -- instead -- all you get is this email and my heartfelt support. If I win a lottery, you'll be getting a hefty donation. Julie King
HI my name is Steve Towson. Im a musician from Australia and I would just like to say a massive thanks to all Writers Guild in the USA who are fighting for their rights to earn what they rightfully deserve from their work. Your struggle is an inspiration globally to all who work in the arts based industry and struggle to have their work valued. Keep up the fight. In solidarity from Australia Steve Towson
Hey there. I'm am a Danish citizen, I live in Copenhagen Denmark, and i want to voice my support for the writers, who, from my perspective, are the ones who make it all work. As a consumer of great movies and television, i don't mind paying for this service, which gives me so much joy. The thing is that i like to think that my money goes to the actual artists. That's why everybody hates multinational corporations, and why there has been a boom in piracy. It's not because people are mindless thieves, but because they just plain hate the big corporations. The latest events don't help their image, and unless they return to the negotiating table soon, they are going to feel just how much the general public dislikes them. I for one would rather see a total collapse, of the media as we know it, than take my anger out on the writers. They've done nothing, but doing their job, and doing i well. So please AMPTP. Get smart, and do what's right. Give the writers a fair deal. Regards Peter Graversen Copenhagen N Denmark Europe
Hi, I'm from Bulgaria and I was really interested about your strike, because when you started in my country finished the teachers' strike. I support you, because my mother is a teacher, and she didn't work almost 3 months. But all the time i was hoping that she won't give up and she and the other teachers will win. It didn't happen, but i'm proud of my mother, because she showed me how strong the educated people are, when they are together. I almost don't watch TV or US movies, but i know one thing- yours ideas are precious, so I believe that you deserve the happy end. Sabina Ivanova
To whom it may concern: Hello, My name is Christopher Schultz. I am an aspiring voice actor who is currently majoring in Theatre at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas and I
proudly support the writer's strike. Now, I'm not one who is big on formalities and this site is the only place I can go to propose this; so I will lay it out to the best of my abilities I believe that the stubborn-ness of AMPTP may be waning. I believe that we can get through by showing exactly how much the public supports the WGAW and WGAE. I say the people of America should 1) Create a petition (if it hasn't already been done) and 2) bombard the AMPTP with pens and pencils. It sounds insane, I know. But hey, sending thousands of pounds of peanuts to CBS got Jericho back on the air so it just might be crazy enough to work If you could respond that would be grand. -Chris
I encourage your organization to remain committed to your strike within your industry. Perhaps it would be appropriate to increase your demands at this time. Keep up the good work. Marvin Flaten
This is an important issue--as a book writer for two decades now, I know. Stick in there, we're supporting you. Jill Herbers
Yes, we are fans of these shows. yes, they are big part of our lives. yes, we hardly live without. However, we are also aware that without you writers, we wouldn't have any of these shows. You are the real guys. Even if there was no TV on earth you would still be great guys as story tellers. Proud of your work. Proud of your strike. Ceylan Ozge Kunduz
Hello, No matter what perhaps you should hold out until after all the major award shows. That would really get them. How would you feel if you were an actress and you won the Oscar and nobody saw you cry and tell your story and see your gown and things like that. Those things are bigger than most people think. Yes it's high time that writers get their due. It's NOT just about money, it's about respect. And if you think you are not needed, TRY watching the Jay Leno show. It's not even the same. Sad but stay strong. It will pay off in the end and others that follow you will always be in your debt. George Deal Wildomar, CA
I think that what you writers do is amazing. How the conglomerates can refuse to pay you what you're worth is terrible because I think people have realized that without writers, there is virtually nothing. I hope that the AMPTP soon realizes this and you can all go back to work bringing happiness back into the lives of movie and TV fans such as myself. Go You!! Kelly
To all the Writers, This is a note of support to all of you on the picket line and affect by the strike. Please know that the general public realizes how important you are to the industry. We all benefit from your talent and hard work. Love and Light, Svetlana Bell
I recently was looking at a news report about the Golden Globe awards not happening because of the writers strike. I've seen almost no media coverage of what the strike is about, but the BBC did have a link to your web page where I was able to read the strike FAQ page. After reading it you have my total support. I'm not going to watch TV until you get a reasonable settlement. Thank you for standing up to the conglomerates. Barbara
I totally support the strike and just cannot believe that the TMPAP are negotiationg is such bad faith! The Writers are the "Bread and Butter" for everything. Without them where would TV and Movies be? Please do NOT accept anything less than what you deserve: you all are worth it! I can keep watching reruns for as long as I need too, or, actually get some much needed chores done around the house : ) Christy Clarke
Just a fan and member of the public. I think you should picket movie premieres as I notice they are going on as usual. Just a fan
Keep up the strong front. I am proud you all have stood strong all this time. I know it must be very difficult for your families. Good Luck, and here's to an end soon to the dispute!Linda Slater
I understand why you all are on strike and I just hope that a fair deal that both sides can live with is worked out and the writers can get back to work. I like many people really miss your work. Eric Chism
Congratulations workers of USA! The brazillian people are with you, against all kind of exploration. We have to fight against all rich institutions and we also have to do the global and comunist revolution!! Fernando Silva
Sitting far east europe we are shocked that you writers are getting very less ammount [less than 1/3 of a penny for every dollar producers make] while we here decide great American movies only based on their stories, really thats only facter which brings my friends and me to cinema. we all support you. Best of luck, you make hollywood that hollywood which we know here. Jasbir Singh
I don't have a question. I just want to say that I and my family support the hardworking, intelligent people who make the shows great. If my kids ever grow up to be writers, it's trailblazers like you that will make it possible for them to earn a decent living. Lisa Michele Davis
Alright, here it goes. I'm 15 and live in a small town. I don't know much about a lot of things. But I have to say that I support the WGA with all my mind, body, and soul. You guys keep doing what needs to be done to get a fair contract. I don't mind re-runs! Maybe I'll start to read a book...Getting off subject. I just want you to know that when things look bad, know that at least one 15 year old girl supports you! Becky
I'm Brazilian. The American TV shows are awesome and very popular in Brazil. I support the writers against yours employers. I hate strikes but, your strike-- screw the Brazilian TV employers too. "Give to Cesar what is from Cesar". Fight the power! Diego Queiroz Melo
I would like to take this opportunity to state that I support the Writers Guild 100%. I'm a young and developing screenwriter from Canada and I love sitting in front of my laptop creating stories, however this strike is a necessary step in awarding us writers our fair share. David J. Moreira
As a member of SAG I support the WGA strike 100%. Writers deserve what is fair and right. Without them we actors would have nothing to say and silent movies in todays market wouldn't go very far. And as a non- union writer (who hopes someday to be in the WGA) the stakes are higher than ever in this new media game. So, even though this strike has put my plans for pilot season in a tailspin, I say, however long it takes so be it. I'm behind you all the way. God Bless. Delno Ebie
I support the writers in their fight to be paid for their creative work, and I am angry at management for a policy that may result in the end of good drama and comedy on television. I am sick of stupid reality shows! Ann Agranoff
I wanted to say, after reading some of these supporting comments. To the writer Kelly who left her support. I totally understand how your mother feels. I am a married 28 year old mother of a 10 year old and 9 year old. I myself have fibromyalgia. It is a condition that for lack of better words, SUCKS!!! I haven't been able to live a normal functioning life in over 6 years. Normal day to day things don't come as easily to me as they did years ago. So as a result of it, I stay inside and watch a LOT of TV and movies. So without these writers of television shows and movies I would be an extremely bored person. So please writers fight for what you deserve, I'm happy to watch reruns and movies over and over until you get what you and the rest of us know that you DESERVE!!! Stay strong, we will all be thinking of you and wishing you all luck. Take care!!! ~Chelsea~
I'm Brazilian. The American TV shows are exhibit in Brazil, because that I support the writers against yours employers. I love strikes, and your strike f*ck the Brazilian TV employers too. Fábio de Oliveira Ribeiro
Please bring this strike to a close ASAP. I miss watching the shows you write. Eugene Morris
Being a still photographer on the front lines for the Producer and Director of the Oscars, Emmys and various shoots for the DGA. The reason for the post is to let the writers know that i support them 100%. I am only a still photographer but got very tired of the DGA looking to cut my wage but pay themselves very, very well. I also know from past Oscar shows i have done that everyone else works for peanuts while the big boys rake it in. The writers should have as much if not more glamour and credit as everyone else. Hollywood should really be a shame of itself, we can put on major shows, award shows etc but we cannot solve such a small problem.... GREED, that's the issue. I could solve this problem in 2 seconds why can't the "Big Boys" ????????????? Because they do not want to. It’s that simple. I can only hope that someone steps up to the plate and gives the writers what is not only fair but way over due. Anyone want some stills from past shows?? JP
I would like to send out my support via email to the WGA and their cause. Wow. It is surprising that this strike is STILL going on considering the ridiculous reason for NOT 'giving [you] a pay raise'. This is about more then a few dollars and cents. This is about more then not being able to see our favorite TV shows complete a full season this year. No matter how long it takes, no matter how long you have to strike, PLEASE DONT STOP. As an Amateur Writer, I can see the internet being your BEST asset to help your fight and cause. The big Media outlets have almost had a blackout on the issue, which is a first step in Victory. First they ignore you. Then they laugh at you. Then they attack you. Then you win. DONT STOP IN YOUR FIGHT I would hate to see, after two months, the WGA give in to outside pressures. Stay gold, Pony Boy (that's you ;) Enjoy your day! Love Evolve Revolution! Alexander Johnson peacelove
I am a UFCW union member and a HUGE fan of Jon Stewart. As such, I am in complete solidarity w/ Jon's writers as well as all the other ones and look forward to seeing new "Daily Show" episodes when the time comes. Most importantly, I'm glad to see that when workers unite and rise up against the corporate elite, things are turn out for the best and work for **everyone**, not just the multibillion dollar corporations and their CEO's, which (I hope) will be the end result in this case. Deb Shults
Even though I'm sure someone has purposed this, I thought "what the heck". I see the problem as- the writers need to be paid more for the work that will be on the Internet, and the companies are saying that they don't have that money. So my first thought was back to when TV started and advertising paid for all of the shows. So why not do like they do on Yahoo with the music videos and put ads in with the show that you can't skip over. Then the extra money coming from the ads can pay for the writers' raise. Good luck! And I hope you're back soon. Aimee Lee
Hello WGA(W), I am a long time customer. I say customer because I have yet to earn membership. I have registered several of my works through your organization and just wanted to send this letter to you stating my support for your cause. I hope a resolution comes soon. I am currently in Korea, fulfilling a contractual obligation, or else I'd be there showing my support in person. Sorry it's taken so long for me to send you this. Keep up the fight! Sincerely, Eric E. Hack --yes, that's my real name : )
Without your scripts, there are no stories to tell. You are the backbone of the movie/television industry, and it is unfortunate that the studios do not realize that. The writers should by all rights receive what they are asking for. Ginger Escalante
I want to say that in an industry driven world it is nice to know that a group is willing to put money making aside and fight for the future employees and writers of American Motion Picture and Film. As a future screenwriter, Director, and Producer I say everyone gets whats fair. So as a Christian I say God Bless and God's Speed in getting a fair contract and end to this strike. Justin Todd Lindsey Andrews, Texas
Dear WGA members: Below is an e-mail I just fired off to those people at the AMPTP. I just wanted to share the love with you: To the AMPTP: This strike has gone on far too long, and YOU are to blame. Without writers, you have no scripts, no shows, no intelligent entertainment to offer viewers, no prime advertising slots to offer advertisers, and no advertising revenue. Show the writers some respect and share some of the ridiculous wealth you people amass. What the heck IS a producer, anyway? Your viewers have no idea. Nor do we understand why "producers" should make ridiculous amounts of money. But we get what writers do, and we surely appreciate it. No House, no Bones, no Moonlight, and worst of all, no Pushing Daisies--what's next, Law & Order? Cheesy, lowest-common-denominator "reality" shows are no substitute for an acerbic House observation or the delightful insanity of a "follow-the-yellow-thick-hose" moment in Pushing Daisies. Your viewers deserve better than what they've been getting as you allow this strike to drag on and on. Loosen those wallets and give the writers their due. Lynn Ingogly
Dear WGA Members, I love your work, especially CSI and CSI New York, and I am very disappointed that CSI apparently is already over for this season, and there will only be two more episodes of CSI:NY. That notwithstanding, I can see the reason why you are on strike, especially given my own viewing habits: No longer living in the US, I am purchasing my favorite shows in the Apple iTunes Store. And even when I move back, my busy schedule makes buying the shows online much more appealing than watching them on air. Thus -- even though I now paid full season passes for incomplete seasons -- you have my full support to ask for proper compensation from these downloads. Hopefully the studios will come to their senses soon, because I am really waiting for the return of my favorite TV series! Alexander von Below Wiesbaden, Germany
I am an aspiring writer to be, in what medium? I am not yet sure, but I do empathize and fully support the WGA. I'll admit, I miss the hell out of my favorite shows and wonder if I'll ever see the series finale to "Scrubs" but that's beside the point. The writers are the backbone, hell they're basically every bone (and the brain!) behind what we watch, not the corporate execs. They're the financial side, or the wallet. Don't give up until a fair deal is compromised! Scott Rivet
I commend you for sticking it out! If you don't stand for this, the studio heads will believe they can feed you scraps from here on out. Everyone knows that Hollywood is a money machine, but unfortunately the studios want to keep all of the money for themselves. Shame on them and any entertainer who dare crosses your picket line. Continue to fight the good fight. Everyday, working-folk who pay their taxes and maintain decent lives are rooting for you! Stay strong and firm in your positions. Dawn Dixon Carr
I just wanted to let you know I support you and know you deserve everything your asking for. I don't think it was a good idea to allow the late nite shows to go back on the air (except for Letterman) without an contract. This is clearly a way for them to continue on figuring it will be a long time before they settle with you. I think you should disallow the shows from crossing your picket lines. Only then will the hosts of these shows force the bigwigs to cough up the rights you deserve. Good Luck. Edward Wunder
Everyone should be compensated fairly for their work or efforts. You have my support during the strike. Let me know if there is anything I can do in this matter. Dan L. York Vancouver, WA
Don't give up. It's not a sacrifice made only for you, but for every writers, new or professional and up coming writers. Thanks for raising the artists voice and hope it will have a happy end. A new screenwriter. estheline s fomat
From an Information Technology standpoint, many companies try to use the internet to screw over individuals. The internet is in place for the distribution of information, and everyone involved with the creation, implementation, and distribution of that material should be compensated for their work. I fully support your plight, and wish you the best of luck in today's negotiations! -Ryan PS. Don't settle for less, you should be getting paid the SAME EXACT amount as you were before internet streaming and digital transmissions!
I have watched the Oscars for 40 plus years. I have never missed one, however if this strike is not settled - it will be a first. My life long love of the movies and the Oscars, will not make me a scab. I support you with my voice, my actions, my heart and my purse. Keep the faith. Deidre Bolduc
First to know I am completely anti-union, so for me and mine to be so solidly in your corner HAS to say something of how solid your case is! I wanted to send a note to say "PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE" do NOT capitulate to these Directors who pulled such a sucker punch by getting that agreement with the Directors ONLY to sway public opinion, and (from their perspective)to add more power to their side against your role by this PRETENSE of how reasonable they are! THIS is your chance (and the actor's chance that follows), to turn the tables and take them down. PLEASE PLEASE continue to sign ONLY with these small production companies! The advertisers will go where the good shows are - the shows YOU do, not the dribble they are trying to feed us now. They have planned this whole process to be able to bring in MORE crap to feed us, which also means they don’t need you! Why can't people understand, that any increased costs would NOT come out of their pockets, but instead be passed on to US the consumers and the advertisers immediately (and for which we would gladly pay for our pleasures)?!? PLEASE keep signing with the small production companies who support you! PLEASE don’t lose this opportunity to turn the tables, to break free of their chains of slavery to FINIALLY get what you have coming~ so completely deservedly! So many of us would willingly and painfully give up every one of our beloved shows and start fresh, to give this to you (and therefore to us because the truth is that they have crapped on US, with their arrogance and greed)! Hugs and support! CJ Anderson
Give the writers what they want! You can no longer find a decent program on TV. I am sick and tired of seeing these reality shows and game shows all the time! We need story lines back into our programs. Without writers you lose viewers, with losing viewers you lose money! Get them back on the air by giving them what they want. Dennis Ryan
As I man who one day hopes to join the WGA I am pledging my support of the strike. Also, the organization I am currently the president of, "Hill Country on Campus" supports the strike as well. I am not sure if I will get an email back from this, but in case I do I have a few questions: 1. Is it true that anyone who sells any kind of script during the strike will not be allowed into the guild? What about selling a novel? 2. I have heard by simply selling a script to a guild producer one can join the guild, is this true? 3. Why can't anybody stop The Patriots this season? Please send any additional information on how I and my organization can aid the writers. Indubitably, Chris Birkhimer
Hi I just wanted to let you know that I support you through this strike. Without the writers, there wouldn't be an entertainment industry. I think your work is extremely important and valuable. It's about time you received your much deserved recognition and appreciation. Keep fighting for what you believe in and don't ever stop writing. Elika Aram
Good on you all! Your strength is admirable and your cause just. While it must be very hard to persevere, please keep "at it". For too long the studio's have had their way, reaping the spoils of your labours (my wife describes them as "slime sucking weasels"). We wish you all the best from Northwest British Columbia! Doug & Linda Thomson
I am often reminded of what the dictator Pinochet said about getting half of the working class to destroy the other half during his tragic rule over Chile. I think the remarks are also somewhat apropos when it comes to understanding the divisive tactics of multi-billion dollar corporations in regards to their willingness to try to divide and conquer. That is why I am pledging my support to all the striking writers, as a non-guild member writer who hopes to be able to "make her bones" and join the Writers Guild one day. Sacrifice is sacrifice, and below-the-line writers need to know that their 'A talent' counterparts are with them in the struggle as a unified front. As writers, we all need to support one another in this labor struggle regardless of financial status. The voices of the many, not the few, will make a difference in determining a favorable outcome. La-Tonia Denise Willis
Although I, like many other Americans, are upset that we aren't seeing our favorite TV shows, I understand that you guys/girls aren't making enough money from your writings. I didn't understand, until I read the FAQ's, that your health benefits and etc., are paid by residuals. I can fully understand now WHY you are striking. I want my shows back but I don't want the workers to suffer! KEEP UP THE STRIKE until you get it straightened out! Leslie Wing
I am unhappy with the AMPTP's refusal to negotiate fairly with the WGA. They have forced this writer's strike with their stubborn greediness. It is my wish that the AMPTP would give the WGA what they demand so the writers get what they justly deserve, and so this strike may come to an end. Gretchen Skellenger
I am no one but I support you. Francesca Di Benedetto
I have written the following letter in response to an article appearing in the Star Tribune Newspaper, January 22, 2007, entitled "Minnesotans nab two best-picture nominations for Oscars" written by Paul Walsh. I support and appreciate our writers, and will continue to fight for them in whatever way that I can. All of my best, Angela Joy Mr. Walsh, As a resident of Orange County, California and an active member of both the Screen Actors Guild, and the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists, I am extremely disappointed in your negative presentation of the writers in the article, "Minnesotans nab two best-picture nominations for Oscars". Statements such as "writers are shutting down the town's biggest parties", and "There will be fallout if the writers strike undermines the Feb. 24 presentations" are inflammatory, one-sided and, frankly, misleading. It is not the Guild who jeopardizes the Oscars by refusing to write, it is, more accuratly, the producers' refusal to negotiate that may prevent celebrities from patting "themselves on the back for a job well done" this year. These striking workers want to write; they love to write; they provide for their families by writing. The last thing that they want to do is sit at home with the rest of us and watch a watered-down, unremarkable Oscar presentation, while their bank accounts get smaller and smaller. Yet with extreme personal sacrifice, these men and women are striking, not to ruin the Oscar night parties, but to gain fair and reasonable payment for their work--something that many Americans are currently striving for. Presenting these workers in an unbalanced, negative light is, not only vilifying the victim, it is irresponsible. Looking forward to fair representation in your future articles, Angela Joy Seard
The Edinburgh Freelance Branch of the National Union of Journalists sends its best wishes and support for the WGA's strike action. Copyright theft is an issue that affects freelance journalists just as it does creative writers. We believe writers should be properly paid for their work, however it is exploited by the media companies. Here's hoping for successful negotiations. All the best,Mark Fisher Chair and secretary Edinburgh Freelance Branch National Union of Journalists Edinburgh, UK
Has the WGA thought about dispatching persons across the U.S. to strike movie theaters or local TV stations. This would help bring the message to America and resolve the strike. I would be happy to hold a sign for the WGA but it is a lot colder in Idaho than southern California. Thanks. Mark Freeman
In every element that the Artistic process takes there are a lot of talented women and men but the writers are the only key element which is utterly irreplaceable, you can either choose between one actor or another, a distributor or another but without the unique corner stone that writers are the whole building collapse, the studios are not conceding anything because they are aware of the overwhelming power that you posses. Right On! Alejandro Lyman Chandler
Okay, I watch more TV than most... I can't live without CSI (and its 2 co-show's) and Moonlight (New favorite) or Supernatural, or Smallville, or Heroes, or Lost, or Medium, Grey's Anatomy and a handful of others.. EVERY WEEK (Yes, I have DVR on 2 TV's so I can watch Supernatural, CSI, AND Grey's Anatomy every Thursday, lol, So yes! I want THE WRITERS to get more money so they'll be HAPPIER and be less stressed so they can concentrate on making the shows rock! Because they really really do!!! AND I'm a big movie buff, so that goes without saying that I really really want the writers to be happy! YAY! So here's my support to the WGA in hopes that the idiots trying to screw you over get over themselves and let you guys get back to work making my life happily distracted! lol... Between college and my BF, I NEED a stress reducer, and my TV shows do that for me! Amanda Parr
I am so very glad that the Writers Guild of America is standing up to unfair rights. You are the creative force that drives what Americans and the rest of the world love to watch and enjoy. I applaud you for your efforts. Keep fighting the good fight! Daniel Harrell
