Recognizing the importance of new members to the Guild, in the spring of 2011, the WGAW Board of Directors voted to revamp and restructure the New Member Program. The committee is now working on the framework for a program that will both welcome and educate new members on how to take full advantage of their membership. We expect the changes to be implemented in time for a summer rollout. In the meantime, if you are a new member and have questions, just click on the email link below and let us know how we can help.
In addition, eight times a year (usually the third Thursday of the month; check the WGA calendar), we offer a New Member Dialogue where members of the committee – veteran writers – share their experience and perspective with new Current, Associate, and Caucus members in an intimate and informal exchange. Attendees set the agenda – agent/attorney/manager relationships, writing craft, long-term career strategies, health & pension benefits, etc. We cover any topic that might help you succeed as a writer and member of the Guild community. There are no set speeches, just talk among people with common interests and aspirations. Each Dialogue is different, and you're welcome to attend as often as you like. Light refreshments are served. Please contact the Member Services for more details.
