| Scribes Attract A-List Talent for 2006 Writers Guild Awards
LOS ANGELES -- The Writers Guild of America, west (WGAw) has confirmed an A-list line-up of film and television stars as presenters to appear at the 2006 Writers Guild Awards on February 4 at the Hollywood Palladium, tapping writer/director/actor Jon Favreau (Elf, Zathura, Swingers) to host this year's West Coast gala event.
Presenters confirmed include: Matt Dillon (Crash), Geena Davis (Commander in Chief),
Steve Carell (The 40 Year-Old Virgin, The Office), Terrence Howard (Hustle & Flow, Crash), Jason Lee (My Name Is Earl), James Denton (Desperate Housewives), George Lopez (The George Lopez Show), Marg Helgenberger (CSI: Crime Scene Investigation), Dan Rather (60 Minutes), Jenna Elfman (Courting Alex), Sandra Oh (Grey's Anatomy), Craig Ferguson (The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson), Ellen Pompeo (Grey's Anatomy), James Garner (8 Simple Rules), Tyler James Williams (Everybody Hates Chris), and Lauralee Bell (The Young & the Restless).
Also confirmed to appear: George Clooney and Grant Heslov, winner's of this year's Paul Selvin Award for their Good Night, and Good Luck screenplay (Dan Rather presenting), Lawrence Kasdan, recipient of this year's Screen Laurel Award for lifetime achievement (Geena Davis presenting), Stephen J. Cannell, recipient of this year's Paddy Chayefsky Television Laurel Award for lifetime achievement (James Garner presenting), and Frank Pierson, recipient of this year's Morgan Cox honorary award for his body of work and career service (Matt Dillon presenting).
The 2006 Writers Guild Awards celebrates the best and brightest from film, television, news, and radio, recognizing screenwriters with this year's Original and Adapted Screenplay Awards, as well as honoring television writers for Episodic Drama, Episodic Comedy, Original and Adapted Longform, Animation, Children's, and other competitive categories. Award-winning writer-producer Cort Casady is executive producer of this year's West Coast show.
The 2006 Writers Guild Awards will be held Saturday, February 4, 2006, in Los Angeles at the Hollywood Palladium and simultaneously in New York at the Waldorf=Astoria.
