Michael Barlow
Writers 55 and over

After graduating from Georgetown University, Michael Barlow attended UCLA Film School and worked at the AFI’s Center for Advanced Film Studies. He served as reader, then story executive at United Artists. Barlow began his television writing career on the ABC series Family. He wrote two screenplays for American Zoetrope, one of which, Kidnapped, became a four-hour miniseries for RHI, and authored a South Pacific historical adventure, The Fair American, for Castle Rock.

As a producer and executive, he worked with director Bob Rafelson for five years and was Associate Producer of The Postman Always Rings Twice. Barlow then went to Warner Brothers where he helped develop Pee Wee’s Big Adventure and Empire of the Sun. As V.P. Production, Orion Pictures, Barlow supervised over thirty pictures, including No Way Out, Back to School and House of Games. He was the creative consultant at Paramount Classics for eight years and Executive Producer of Asylum (2005).
