Jay Roberts
Minority Writers

Jay Roberts, an award-winning writer/producer, has worked on an array of film and television projects throughout his 17-year career. Roberts got his start as co-producer of actor-director Laurence Fishburne's stage-play, Riff Raff. From there he worked on How Stella Got Her Groove Back for director Kevin Sullivan before becoming his Director of Development and Associate Producer. During his tenure, Roberts helped develop a number of pilots including Young Americans starring Kate Bosworth; Father Lefty, written by Sylvester Stallone and The Law and Mr. Lee starring Danny Glover. He served as Associate Producer on the Showtime film, Conviction, Barbershop 2, and Guess Who, starring Ashton Kutcher and Bernie Mac. In 2007 Roberts transitioned into writing full time as Staff Writer then Story Editor on the Emmy-Award winning Breaking Bad where his work was recognized with a Peabody Award, two WGA nominations and as a Humanitas Prize finalist.
