John-Paul Nickel

John-Paul Nickel is a television writer, filmmaker, off-Broadway playwright and actor.

A writer for Amazon’s Just Add Magic, JP previously wrote for Syfy’s Warehouse 13 where he had the honor of writing the series finale.

As a playwright, JP has had two plays produced off-Broadway and two readings at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. where he won the Jean Kennedy-Smith Playwriting Award for “outstanding play written on the theme of living with a disability.” JP has also received a fellowship at the Eugene O’Neill Playwright’s Conference.

JP wrote and directed the films W.W.H.T.K.B. and Grim, which have won him over 25 awards including Best Film, Best Screenplay, and Best Comedic Actor.

A trained actor, JP appeared in 66 episodes of SMBC Theater and starred in Starpocalypse.

JP holds an MFA in Playwriting from Carnegie Mellon University and is represented by ICM and The Shuman Company.
