 Award Presentation

We are pleased to announce this year's recipient of the
WGAW AWC Animation Writing Award

Craig Miller
For his distinguished career in the field of Animation.

Craig Miller achieved degrees in Child Development and Social Psychology and, like most people, ended up only using those degrees peripherally. His actual career has been all over the pop culture map. He started in Hollywood as a publicity executive, working as a consultant to Lucasfilm, Warner Bros., Disney, Universal, etc. on such films as Star Wars, The Empire Strikes Back, The Dark Crystal, Altered States, The Muppets Take Manhattan, Splash, The Thing, The Last Starfighter, The Wicker Man, Excalibur, and others, working directly with George Lucas, Jim Henson, and other creative powerhouses. But for the last thirty years, he's been writing, developing, and producing television.

He has well over 300 TV credits in all areas, from Showtime's horror anthology series The Hunger, to the Emmy-winning PBS series Curious George. Most of his work has been in animation, on shows ranging from The Smurfs to the The Real Ghostbusters to Beast Wars. He co-created, produced, and story edited the very first animated series done under a WGA contract, the 104-episode Pocket Dragon Adventures, and has done several other WGA-covered projects since.

Craig spends much of his time developing projects for companies around the world. He's done shows for China, Australia, France, Italy and Dubai. He's been a guest speaker at animation events all over the U.S. and in France, India, Spain, Norway etc. His book about his time at Lucasfilm, "Star Wars Memories" was released in December 2019.
