Submissions Due for WWD's The Disability Scene – Year Three

Calling all WGA writers! Click for Submission Guidelines. Writers with Disabilites Committee (WWD) seeks submissions for its third annual Disability Scene event (March 28, 2018). Guild members in active status encouraged to submit WGAW-registered material (name not to appear anywhere on script!) with disability-related themes from unproduced screenplays, TV pilots, short films, teleplays, webisodes and stage plays. It can be "a work in progress" or "stand-alone" scene. Actors with disabilities will be cast (whenever possible), and scenes directed by industry professionals. "The Disability Scene was one of the best nights I've had in a long time. I got to see great entertainment and also discover new talent. This is the kind of stuff that recharges my batteries." – writer/director Peter Farrelly.

The Career Longevity Committee (CLC) invites you to a staged reading of Celluloid Heroes, set during the summer of 1974, telling the bittersweet story of Lionel Starr, a 15-year-old runaway in the throes of sexual awakening. He arrives in Hollywood, falls in with a shadowy group of hippies, and benefits from his chance encounter with a charismatic gay composer, who endeavors to mentor and encourage him to continue his education. During the summer of 1974, Richard Nixon resigned, Mama Cass died, and Lionel Starr grew up. Directed by Gary Goldstein. Food and drink reception follows. CLC's Seasoned Readings promote and celebrate the work of WGA writers age 50+.
