Through organizing efforts, educational events, and networking opportunities, the Animation Writers Caucus (AWC) is a leading proponent for animation writers.
Founded in 1994, the AWC sponsors many events during the year and hosts a panel and reception in participation with Comic-Con International. The AWC is also responsible for the administration of the annual WGAW-AWC Animation Writing Award.
BENEFITS OF CAUCUS MEMBERSHIP
AWC members receive WGAW mailings and communications, may serve on WGAW committees, use the WGAW Script Registration Service at a reduced rate, and attend Guild Screenings. AWC members may also become members of the Musicians' Interguild Credit Union (subject to their discretion).
Applicants are required to have written the equivalent of one half-hour of produced animation. (If you are contracted to write the equivalent of one half-hour of animation which has not yet been produced, please contact WGAW Member Organizing for further instructions.)
THE WGAW-AWC ANIMATION WRITING AWARD
The Writers Guild of America West Animation Writers Caucus gives out an Animation Writing Award at the AWC’s annual awards ceremony.
The WGAW’s AWC Animation Writing Award is given to members of the Animation Writers Caucus or Writers Guild who have advanced the literature of animation in film and/or television through the years and made outstanding contributions to the profession of the animation writer.
