It’s your PAC, your power.

Today, the WGAW PAC releases its first round of federal endorsements for the 2020 elections, accompanying our PAC’s support for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris at the top of the ticket. Each election cycle, the WGAW PAC Board, appointed by the Board of Directors, evaluates candidates to endorse based on a combination of their records in Congress and responses to the candidate questionnaire.

More endorsements will be announced in the coming weeks.

Funded entirely by member donations since its founding in 2008, the WGAW PAC supports candidates who stand for the issues important to writers. The PAC bolsters the Guild’s efforts to build relationships with elected leaders by educating them on the importance of curbing the power of the media conglomerates that attempt to depress our wages and bargaining power; advocating for more competition and an open internet where new platforms and content can thrive; and supporting policies that protect our hallmark health and pension benefits. Working most closely with members of the House and Senate judiciary, commerce, and labor committees, we ensure through legislative visits and PAC contributions that writers’ priorities are heard with one voice.

Long gone are the days when writers could stay out of the political process and expect to get our fair share through collective bargaining alone. As the media landscape dramatically transforms and rights we once took for granted are under attack, we can’t afford to stay out of the fight.
