Writers Guild of America West Announces Final Candidates for 2019 Officers and Board of Directors Election

The WGAW’s nominating committees have announced the final list of candidates for the 2019 WGAW Officers and Board of Directors election.

Los Angeles – Writers Guild of America West has announced the final list of candidates for the 2019 WGAW Officers and Board of Directors election.

The Officer candidates are as follows: President: William Schmidt, David A. Goodman (inc.), Phyllis Nagy; Vice President: Carl Gottlieb, Marjorie David (inc.), Craig Mazin; Secretary-Treasurer: Nick Jones, Jr., Evette Vargas, Michele Mulroney.

There are 21 candidates running for eight open seats on the WGAW’s Board of Directors as follows: Meredith Stiehm (inc.), Ed Herro, Zoe Marshall, Mike Mariano, Liz Alper, Rasheed Newson, Luvh Rakhe (inc.), Nicole Yorkin (inc.), Angelina Burnett (inc.), Nicholas Kazan, Ashley Edward Miller, Sarah Treem, Joshua Hale Fialkov, Ayelet Waldman, Courtney A. Kemp, Jason Fuchs, Robb Chavis, Dante W. Harper, Rob Forman, Chris Roessner, Marc Guggenheim.

Andrew Bobrow withdrew his candidacy on July 21. Alvaro Rodriguez withdrew his candidacy on July 23.

Editor’s Note: WGAW internal rules require candidates to be announced in an order determined by lot; (inc.) denotes an incumbent candidate.

The WGAW will host its annual Candidates Night forum, where Guild members may meet and pose questions to the candidates, on Wednesday, August 28, at the Writers Guild Theater in Beverly Hills.

Guild members will receive candidate, non-candidate, and rebuttal statements, if any, with their ballots prior to the election. Candidates may distribute additional campaign materials at their own expense. The voting period concludes on Monday, September 16, at 12:00 p.m. (PT). Members may vote online or by mail. In accordance with labor law, proxy voting is not permitted.
